Silver is comparatively soft to other lapel pin materials. Fragile on its own silver is easily damaged so it is combined with a
little copper. This alloy is called sterling silver. This makes a more dependable and longer lasting lapel pin. The alloy of the sterling silver consists of 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent copper.
The tiny amount of copper added to sterling silver has little effect on the value of the silver.
The value of the silver product is arrived from the intricacy of design and time taken. Sliver prices fluctuate with market prices daily.Hard enamel is not used for colouring silver lapel pins because the high temperature would melt the silver. Soft enamel can be used.Sand blasting, printing etc can only be used on metal areas.
The silver pins can be coated with epoxy
